First off, I would like to thank all the club members who volunteered to take a shift at our educational bee booth this past Saturday and Sunday (24, 25) at the Pass Creek Fall Fair. It was the first post-Covid Fair and we had a lot of visitors. The kids really enjoyed playing “Where’s Waldo?” with the unmarked queen in our observation hive and a number of adults said that they learned a lot of things about honey bees that they did not know before. There were even a fair number of folks that expressed an interest in perhaps starting beekeeping, so maybe some new club members next year.
As to our October and November meetings……………..
In the past, before Covid, we have always met on the first Sunday of the month at the Castlegar Public Library meeting room. However due to Covid, the library is no longer open on Sundays, so we have had to move the meetings to Saturdays.
So our next meeting (October) will be this coming Saturday, which is the 1st of October. Sorry for the short notice. Our November meeting will then be the first Saturday which is the 5th. The business meetings will run from 13:00 to 15:00, but we have the meeting run from noon until 16:00. So bring your lunch and socialize before the meeting if you can. After the meeting there will often be a seasonally appropriate demonstration as well as time for questions and advice.
The October meeting will have discussion of the BCHPA AGM in Kamloops on October 14-16 and anything that our club might want question or find out about from the provincial organization.
We will also have a raffle this meeting so if you want to take part, make sure to bring an empty 5-gallon bucket to take home some sugar. There will also be a $30 Honey House gift certificate as a prize. And if you have any items that you would like to donate as raffle prizes, they will be more than welcome.
So, hope you can make it…… Saturday, October 1, starting at 12 noon in the Castlegar Public Library downstairs meeting room. See you there.
