A few of our members have told me that they missed the fantastic Big Buzz Festival that Kate and Ryan held at Elk Root Conservation Farm on Sunday, 28 August. So I approached Kate to see if we could have our first meeting this fall at Elk Root. She said that it would be okay except that they have another group already booked in on the afternoon of the same day that we want to meet. So………………………..
If we run our meeting earlier than usual and get out accordingly, we can meet at Elk Root and anyone who has not seen their incredible gardens and bee barn can get that opportunity. So if you want to socialize with your fellow beekeepers and have a look around the site, please arrive before noon, say 10:00 at the earliest. Our business meeting will run from 12:00 to 14:00, at which point we will have to leave immediately, so casual time BEFORE the meeting, no hanging around after as is usually the case. We can go back to our regular pattern in October. The business meeting will cover any items that we think should be presented at the BCHPA AGM to be held in Kamloops, October 14 – 16. So the details…..
September West Kootenay Beekeepers Meeting, Sunday, September 11.
Informal get together and look around; 10:00 – 12:00, business meeting 12:00 – 14:00 at Elk Root Conservation Farm, 4010 Passmore Lower Road. If you are coming up or down the Slocan valley, turn at the Passmore Trailhead exit and cross the bridge over the Slocan River. Turn immediately right onto Passmore Lower Road. Watch for the big red pothole, and keep going until you cross the bridge over the Little Slocan River. Elk Root is the first place on the right, there is a big sign, you can’t miss it. They do not have a lot of parking on site so please park on the shoulder or across the road and walk in. Please bring your own food and drink, a chair, and sun protection, hat or umbrella maybe.
