Dan Mawson sent me this email today. Pretty short notice but if you’re up for it, jump quickly;
“Hello BC Bee Club Presidents,
We are getting excited about Apimondia 2019 in Montreal, September 8-12th and are working hard on our trade show booth for the BCHPA. We are at the stage now where we are looking to finalize our volunteers to work the booth for the event. There will be a total of 10 BCHPA members representing our association.
We are looking for an additional 3 volunteers to work a daily shift of 2 hours per day for 5 days (total of 10 hours) in our trade show booth in Montreal. If you would like to attend Apimondia, here is your chance to have some of your costs covered. In return for volunteering will pay for your Apimondia event pass ($445 value), as well as 6 night accommodation, based on double occupancy, up to $225/night (up to $675 value per person).
We are giving this opportunity to local bee club presidents in thanks for serving on your leadership and contributing to the beekeeping community in your area. We are looking for a firm commitment from volunteers. You will be responsible to book and pay for your own travel arrangements as well as book your hotel. Once committed, you will sign up for a 2 hour shift each day. Our booth will be a 10 x 10 space with a table and 2 chairs. We will have brochures on Beekeeping in BC as well as handouts from our partners in Agriculture. We will also have a large TV screen playing a video/photo montage of beekeeping in BC. We are expecting 5,000-8,000 attendees.
Please let us know by Tuesday, June 18 if you are interested in helping out. In the event we have more than 3 volunteers interested, a lottery may be used to determine finalists.
Thank you!”
