Upcoming Beginner Courses

Beginner Beekeeping courses are starting up again for 2018.

1. East Kootenay – Cranbrook. Lance And Bobby Cuthill will run their usual course;

2 Full Classroom Days Feb 24/25
1 Field Day working with Honey Bees date to be announced

2. East Kootenay – Creston. Jeff Lee and Amanda Goodman-Lee will also run their BCHPA certified course through College of the Rockies on Feb 24/25 with a field day to follow;

3. West Kootenay – Castlegar. I will be running the annual West Kootenay Beekeepers BCHPA certified course through Selkirk College which is 2 classroom sessions in February and 6 monthly field day sessions from April to September;

4. West Kootenay – Grand Forks and Nakusp. Selkirk College is also again offering the Beekeeping in a Weekend NBCHPA certified course which I will be teaching at these two satellite campuses. This course is exactly the same 2 classroom sessions as the Castlegar course but includes only 1 field day. Students in these courses could then join the additional field days in Castlegar, May to September, if they so wish;

5. East Kootenay – Fernie, Invermere, and Golden. The College of the Rockies is offering courses of varying length and intensity at 3 satellite campuses. Note that these courses may not be BCHPA certified;

When you are deciding which course to take, you will want to consider your location of course, as well as cost and depth of material presented. Instructor qualification may also be important to you. You can find the list of instructors qualified by the BC Honey Producers Association (BCHPA) at;
