Paul Taylor has e-mailed me to say that there will be the monthly meeting at his place (Kootenay Bee Supplies at Flying Leap Farm) this coming Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A topic that some people have indicated they would like to talk about is urban beekeeping and starting some actions to have local bylaws changed. Nelson, Castlegar, and Trail all have a bylaw prohibiting bees yet there are “guerilla” beekeepers in all three cities. Perhaps you have some ideas?

Re. changing bylaws: the City of Vancouver’s policy is very progressive, and includes additional information about the value of urban beekeeping to biodiversity and food security.
